Tinefcon Maker Piramal Life in NY Times
(NEW YORK- JULY 7 2010) Piramal Life Sciences, maker of Tinefcon, the exciting new oral treatment for psoriasis, was recently highlighted in an in depth NY Times article. The article discussed the growing presence of Indian pharmaceutical firms in drug development and research. Piramal's sister company, Piramal Healthcare, recently sold its Indian domestic drug business to Abbot Laboratories in a deal worth $3.7 billion. Ajay Piramal, chairman of both Piramal companies, noted that while he has happy to sell his domestic Indian business, he was holding on to Piramal Life Sciences due to its exciting product line.
Tinefcon is Piramal Life Sciences first product for psoriasis. It is also developing 14 other drugs for cancer, diabetes, and a host of other disease. PLSL is publicly traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange (SENSEX).
